A region located in the south-west of the Czech Republic bordering Bavaria. It is home to around 580 thousand inhabitants. The centre of the region is the city of Pilsen with 170 thousand inhabitants, 100 km from the capital city of Prague. The region is home to a number of major companies, the most famous being Pilsner Urquell. Due to the lower population density of the region, with the exception of Pilsen and its surroundings, it is one of the most densely forested regions in the Czech Republic.
