The Free State of Bavaria - Land in the heart of Europe. Cosmopolitan. Fit for the future. One of a kind. Bavaria is changing, but the special white-blue attitude to life remains. This includes: live and let live. A 100-second declaration of love to the beauty and uniqueness of Bavaria.
What we do - For humans and the environment - The many challenges we want and we need to meet for the future in Bavaria are outlined here.
Bavarian Climate Law and the Climate Package with 100 measures in ten fields of action and with investments of 700 million euros and Innovation programs such as our high-tech agenda, the hydrogen strategy and a climate pact with Bavarian companies:
Since climate research is essential for all of these discussions, Bavaria is also shaping the ongo-ing international exchange. The “Virtual Alpine Observatory“ is a cross-border and inter-disciplinary network of European High Altitude Research Stations and addresses scientific problems relating to the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and cryosphere systems.
Our flagship project in the field of the "Transition to a Circular Society" is the Resource Efficiency Centre Bavaria [REZ]. The Centre connects stakeholders across Bavaria on the topic of resource efficiency and supports innovations by transferring knowledge into the practice of Bavarian companies.
The referendum "Save the Bees" with participation of over 1.7 million people in 2019 made it very clear: society's expectation is to stop the loss of species and to protect the remaining biodiversity. The aim of the project “Blühpakt Bayern” (Flowering Pact of Bavaria) is to provide a continuous food supply with flowers for wild bees, butterflies, & Co. and to restore lost habitats. Taking into account the causing factors for insect decline, the “Blühpakt” addresses the four most important target groups: the economy, citizens, agriculture and municipalities. With the "Starter Kit - 100 Flowering Communities", the Bavarian Ministry for the Environment is investing half a million euros in the new creation and further development of municipal flowering areas and supporting the communities with special Flowering Pact advisors.
