Info Region Västra Götaland

Region Västra Götaland has ambitious regional climate targets. The region has declared that by 2030 it will no longer be dependent on fossil energy. That means that in 2030, emissions of greenhouse gases will be reduced by 80 % compared with levels in 1990. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions caused by the consumption of the residents of western Sweden, no matter where in the world they occur, will decrease by 30 % compared with 2010. Region Västra Götaland is an industrial region and 40% of the regional greenhouse gas emissions come from the industry. The electrification of industry and the transport sector is therefore an important part of the task of mitigating the regional impact on climate. At the same time, it represents one of the greatest industrial transitions in our time. For the transition to succeed, access to appropriate expertise is required in new and existing areas and at all levels.

Projects

The Västra Götaland regional development strategy goal for 2030 is to become a robust and cohesive, equal, and open, fossil-independent, and circular region. The Region Västra Götaland strives to make sure that the region is a part of the transition to a green, sustainable, and competitive society by unifying force for climate work and environmentally driven development in the territory. Through broad networks, project support and collaborative environments, ideas can develop, and effective efforts being created jointly. Biodiversity, reduced climate impact, sustainable consumption and increased resource efficiency are priority areas.
